How to find your way to the venue:
First, we recommend that you come to the church, where the Mission Council is taking place. There, you can register and receive instructions on how to reach your accommodation, whether private or in a hotel.
If we know your exact arrival time in Hamburg and your flight number at least two weeks before the Mission Council, we will try to arrange for someone to meet you at the exit with an EBM sign. They will help you purchase a ticket and guide you to the train station. If you are travelling from overseas, please bring euros for train tickets !
Arriving by plane
Fly to Hamburg Airport (HAM).
- From there, take bus 292 towards U-Bahn Ochsenzoll to the final stop, Ochsenzoll (11 stops, 20 minutes)
- Then, change to the U1 subway line towards Norderstedt-Mitte to the station "Garstedt" (one stop, approx. 3 minutes).
Arriving by train
If you are travelling by train from anywhere in Europe, please check the German Railway website: www.bahn.de Please travel to Hamburg Hbf (central station).
Follow the signs to the U1 subway line (blue line) to the U-station “Hauptbahnhof Süd”. Take U1 towards Norderstedt-Mitte to the station "Garstedt" (20 stops, approx. 36 minutes).
The route from Garstedt station to the church (this applies to both those arriving by plane and those arriving by train)
The walk from Garstedt station to the church takes approximately 10–12 minutes (as shown on the map).
If you are arriving by car, please note that you should enter 'Norderstedt' (not 'Hamburg') into your car navigation system when entering the address.
If you would like to go to the Best Western Hotel Schmöckerhof first (address: Oststraße 18, 22844 Norderstedt):
Arriving by plane:
1. Take bus 292 (direction U-Bahn Ochsenzoll) from the airport to the last stop, Ochsenzoll (11 stops, 20 minutes).
2. Change to the U1 subway line (direction Norderstedt-Mitte) to the last stop Norderstedt-Mitte (approx. 7 minutes). From the station "Norderstedt-Mitte", take the bus 393 (direction Harkshörn (Nord)) to the stop "Oststraße" (approx. 20 minutes). The hotel is within sight.
Arriving by train:
Follow the signs to the U1 subway line (blue line) to the U-station "Hauptbahnhof Süd". Take the U1 towards Norderstedt-Mitte to the last stop "Norderstedt-Mitte" (22 stops, approx. 43 minutes). From the station "Norderstedt-Mitte", take the bus 393 (direction Harkshörn (Nord)) to the stop "Oststraße" (approx. 20 minutes). The hotel is within sight.
Leaving after the Mission Council
We expect people to find their own way home after the council meeting. However, if you require specific travel advice or assistance, e.g. from the venue to the airport, please contact the registration desk at the church.
